Singer songwriter Ron Leary’s smokey, rye-soaked voice is legendary throughout Ontario’s deep southern region. Best known for his fiercely honest approach to poetics and songcraft, Leary’s song narratives touch upon the politics of the day, the downtrodden, romance and joy. Few have captured the spirit of Southwestern Ontario life in song better.
With a stage career that began as a six-year-old drumming in his parents’ country & western band The Corn Huskers, these days Ron is up front on the mic, acoustic guitar in hand doing his best version of a 21st century singing poet. As a veteran of the stage, in performance the affable Ron Leary will raise your spirits and leave you wilfully optimistic.
Ron Leary has embraced life as an independent artist self-releasing 5 full length albums to date and regularly touring nationally within Canada. His two most critically acclaimed albums to date are The Road in Between and Tobacco Fields.
Over the years Ron Leary has performed many festivals, theatres and venues sharing the stage with such notable acts as The Sadies, Ron Sexsmith, Amelia Curran, Steve Forbert, Noam Chomsky, K’Naan, Rheostatics, Catherine MacLellan and so many more.
